Ka-pow!

Rubik’s Cube Mosaic

‘Ka-pow!’ is a psychedelic, 3D optical illusion. We use assembled the design from hand-twisted Rubik’s Cubes, then arranged them onto a clear, plexiglass frame and contoured the shape into a levelled sculpture. From there, we embellished the piece with cubes actually protruding outwards from the frame as if exploding from the artwork. The end result is a 3D optical illusion where the viewer can see the artwork seamlessly from head-on, but from other angles the piece appears to be literally exploding off the wall.
